Wassum Productions Inc. – Online Store
Carla Robinson is the founder and owner of Wassum Productions Inc. which is based in Six Nations of the Grand River Territory in Ontario, Canada. She is Haisla and Heiltsuk and grew up in Kitamaat and Bella Bella, British Columbia.
Carla is a writer/producer/director based in Six Nations, Ontario and is developing several film and TV projects.
Carla recently directed an episode of Amplify Season 2 for APTN-TV called Paint The Town Red featuring the Snotty Nose Rez Kids which will air October 2023. Recently, she also was a Story Room Coordinator for Devonshire Films, the Thin Red Line writing development room and attended the Write Over Here Indigenous Screenwriting Residency at the Banff Arts Centre.
In 2020 Carla was an Executive and Consulting producer on the popular and award-winning feature film Monkey Beachand a creative consultant on the Trickster TV series. In 2019 she was the Background Actor Coordinator for Zoe Hopkin’s award winning film Run Woman Run. Carla has written and co-produced a short film called The Guide (2018) which was selected for The American Indian Film Festival, LA Skinsfest, Hamilton Film Festival and won a Top Shorts Award through Film Freeway for best drama.
In 1998 after working as a reporter for BCTV News and CBC-TV in Vancouver, Carla was hired by CBC Newsworld in Toronto as a national news anchor until 2012. She has also hosted various documentary programs for APTN including All Our Relations seasons one and two.
Carla holds an Advanced Diploma in Film and Television from Sheridan College, a Masters degree in Journalism from the University of Western Ontario, and an Honours Bachelor degree in Mass Communications from Carleton University.
